Privacy Policy
AquaMate is developed and operated by Sankit Acharya and Sahaj Ranajee as independent developers ("we", "us"). This policy explains what data the AquaMate app and public website collect, why, and what happens to it. Your data is used to operate AquaMate and respond to you. It is never sold or used for advertising, and it is shared only with the service providers described below.
What we collect
| Category | Data | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Account | Email address, name, and profile picture (if you sign in with Google), or phone number (if you sign in with phone verification) | To create and secure your account |
| Aquarium logs | The aquarium data you record: your tanks, their inhabitants, water parameters, and maintenance activities | This is the core function of the app: tracking the aquariums you choose to log and helping you keep them healthy |
| Device | A push-notification token for your device | To deliver notifications you enable |
| Support correspondence | Your email address, message, and any attachments you choose to send | To answer questions and complete support, privacy, or deletion requests |
| Website waitlist | Your email address, consent choices and timestamps, confirmation and unsubscribe status, and limited security and delivery state | To confirm and manage your waitlist membership, send availability updates, honor your preferences, and prevent abuse |
Your aquarium data
Everything you log in AquaMate is visible only to you inside your account. It is used solely to provide the app's features to you (your tanks, history, and reminders) and is never used for any other purpose.
Website and support correspondence
If you join the website waitlist, we use your email address to send one confirmation message. You join only after confirming. Confirmed members may receive AquaMate availability and waitlist-status messages. Every later message includes an unsubscribe link.
The separate research-interest choice is optional. We use it only to decide whether we may occasionally invite you to AquaMate product research. Selecting it is not required to join the waitlist. If you did not request a confirmation message, its preference link lets you block future signup messages to that address.
If you write to support@aquamate.dev, we use your email address and message only to respond, complete your request, and document any action we take. Contacting support does not subscribe you to waitlist or research email.
Service providers
AquaMate's backend runs on Google Cloud Platform, and its database is hosted on Railway. The providers that process your data on our behalf are:
| Provider | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Firebase Authentication | Sign-in (Google or phone number) |
| Google Cloud Run | Hosting the app backend and website waitlist service |
| Railway | Hosting separate databases for app data and website waitlist data |
| Firebase Cloud Messaging | Push notifications |
| Cloudflare | Website delivery, security, Turnstile abuse prevention, API routing, and routing incoming support email |
| Google Gmail | Temporary mailbox for reading and responding to support correspondence |
| Resend | Waitlist confirmation and preference email, plus authenticated delivery of outgoing support replies |
These providers process data only as needed to perform the purposes listed above. We do not permit them to use AquaMate data for our advertising.
Retention and deletion
Your data is kept for as long as your account exists. When your account is deleted, all account details and aquarium logs are permanently deleted. See how to delete your account. Routine operational logs (used for debugging and service health) contain no aquarium-log content and expire automatically.
Support correspondence is retained only as long as needed to respond, complete the request, and document the action taken, normally no longer than 12 months after the request is resolved. We may retain a minimal record for longer when necessary to establish that a privacy or deletion request was completed or when required by law.
An unconfirmed waitlist entry is deleted 30 days after signup. A confirmed entry is retained until you unsubscribe or 12 months after the last material AquaMate launch update. After unsubscribe, personal waitlist data is deleted within 30 days. We retain only a keyed, non-readable suppression record when you ask us to block future signup messages.
Google Cloud operational logs and Resend email-delivery data are normally retained for 30 days. Application logs exclude email addresses, confirmation tokens, request bodies, and raw network addresses.
Security
All data is transmitted over encrypted connections (TLS) and stored with encryption at rest by the hosting providers above. App data requires an authenticated session. Waitlist records are not publicly accessible, and administrative access is restricted.
Your rights
You can access all of your logged data in the app at any time. You can delete individual logs in the app, or delete your entire account and all associated data. Depending on where you live, you may have additional legal rights (such as access, correction, portability, or erasure under GDPR or similar laws). To exercise any of them, contact us at the address below.
Children
AquaMate is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from them. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and it will be deleted.
Changes
If this policy changes materially, the effective date above will be updated and the app will point to the current version at this address.
